Swedish televsion transcript with translations - August 1997
What do you think of Sweden?
Louise - I love it here. It's beautiful. I like the people here. I like the
yoghurt and the honey. You can't get this kind of yoghurt in the US.
What's the yoghurt like in the United States?
Louise - It's thicker and doesn't taste as good. Then there's yoghurt with
fruit. Of course you have it here too, but that's the most popular thing there.
I heard you speak some Swedish.
Nina - I don't think you wanna hear the words that I can say in Swedish.
I wanna hear them!
Nina - Here's what I can say... What kind of television show is this?
Oh, it's like MTV, but you can say anything.
Nina - OK, here's what I can say: "Pillesnopp" and "hockeyfrilla,
hockeyfrilla".
That's great! Who taught you that?
Nina - And "spenaten","potatisen". Excuse me, I have
to spit whenever I say "potatisen". "Knackerbrod".That's
all you need to know, it's "knackebrod"
and "potatisen". That's all you need to know.
And then you're on your way.
Nina- Yeah. Do you know a drinkingsong that's like "We have no ears,
we have no tails, we have no ears, we have no tails"?
Yeah, I know that one...
Nina - Do you wanna sing it to me?
No, I can't sing.
Nina- Anyway, they all got in a circle and did that drinkingsong and we realized
we're so deprived as americans 'cause we don't have any drinkingsongs.
Louise - Yeah, we just all get drunk without any ritual. I mean even the way
that you toast here, how you lift the glass and look at someones eyes and
then drink and then down, you know. There's a ritual to that. In America we
just go: "Cheers!". And then we have horrible TV games like on the
Bob Newhart Show, do they ever play that over here? It's about psychiatrist
named Bob Newhart. All right, well, there's a game called "Bob".
Everytime someone says the name "Bob" on the show you have to drink.
Nina - Yeah, and there's many different variations of that game. You can play
it with the "Loveboat", you can play it with...anything, basically.
How did you guys meet?
Louise - We met through a friend who was at my party on New Years Eve and
she called Nina at Nina's party. Nina was also having a party. She said: "You
have to meet this girl Louise, you two would absolutely fit together".
And I was playing some of my music and she tried to hold the phone out so
Nina could hear it. And we got together a few days later.
Nina - I thought she was very pretty. And I thought: "This girl's a hot
babe!".
Louise - "I wanna get in bed with her..."
Nina - No, I didn't, I didn't think that, but I did think that she looked
cool. She looked cool. Except...I recall you were wearing a Chicago Bulls-hat.
Louise - It were a Chicago Bulls-hat backwards.
Nina - Oh, right, you did.
lLouise - Backwards...
Nina - It wasn't your fault, it was just the crowd you were hanging with at
that time. She was hanging with a bunch of actors.
Louise - Actors...
Nina - They're the worst
What do you think of the Spice Girls?
Nina - You love to hate them, right?
I love to love them.
Nina - You love to love them!?? Do you like their music?
Like I love my mother, sort of...
Nina - Like you love you mother you love the Spice Girls!?? Where is your
mother right now?
She's at home.
Nina - I hope she's not watching...
How's the European tour been like so far?
Nina - I mean, it's really cool to play in Europe, but the beginning of
this tour has been very difficult. The first five days were a total disaster.
Starting with the loss of our luggage followed by a four and half hour trip
to a show in Portugal on a bumpy road after being incredible jet-lagged. Then
going to a show in Spain, a festival that got cancelled because of a monsoon.
The stage collapsed and everybody almost died. It was just really a hard couple
of days, but last night we played in Copenhagen and had a great show. Looking
outside it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.
Louise - Yeah, it's gonna be fun to play here.We are part of a flow. An ongoing
force, I think. A musical force but also a female force. And I'm so flattered
when girls come up to us and say: "You guys are our rolemodels"
and "We wanna be like you". I say, ofcourse, "No, you wanna
be like yourself, but thank you". "Believe in yourself". I
think it's really cool.
